The Bead Gallery in Ann Arbor has created a wonderfully artsy frame for the Indivisible Pledge. Joyous excitement filled me when I saw this thing of beauty: The message of inclusiveness, equal rights and anti-discrimination adorned by flowers with butterflies, a squirrel, and a heart. While I cannot speak for the artist, who created this exquisite frame, I would like to share my own interpretation as to why the artist has chosen to use those motives. In my opinion, the flowers with the butterflies represent the beauty of the message the Indivisible Pledge conveys. They represent the serenity and peace which could be ours, if society kept moving toward inclusiveness, protection of equal rights, and anti-discrimination measures. The squirrel symbolizes that we need to engage and work hard to protect and achieve all those things. The heart expresses that we are motivated to do so because we know that it is the right and loving thing to do.
